Green Living Journey

Join me on the journey!

Trying new foods, thanks to my CSA!

I am challenging myself to support the local agriculture, bring attention to the Farmers Market and try new foods. The CSA has been the perfect way to do all three things.

I have found myself in several conversations, recently, where bringing up my CSA sparks all kinds of interest.I’m surprised that more locals don’t participate and hope to focus some attention on the benefits of a CSA.

Though I have my own garden, the CSA is filling in the blanks at the beginning of the season and provides fruits and veggies I wouldn’t dare attempt to grow on my own. (stone fruit!)

Though it’s only been two weeks, I’m already becoming more familiar with Virginia Beach Farmers Market and some of its vendors, and I’m looking forward to learning my CSA providers as the summer goes on. (So far – they’ve been too busy to chat, but they certainly seem friendly!)

I’m trying new foods, left and right, and wondering what in the world to do with all those greens! I’d love to try new recipes, too, so feel free to share your favorites. 🙂

What types of things are you getting in your CSA?

I’m sinking beneath cabbage heads and summer squash right now, actually. 😉 Got the hang of turnips, May peas, and green leaf lettuce. More to come in a new post!
