Join me on the journey!
“If at first you don’t succeed…” plant, plant again, is what I always say. After all – why not? It’s a new day! New season, new year…who knows what will come up?
I’ve had my share of successes and failures growing things, both in and out of a garden. My sometimes-black thumb has been the source of many a joke. Still, the appeal of being a part of the magic of growing things always pulls me back into the dirt again.
This year, I’ve stepped up, making a serious financial investment into raised beds and perfect dirt. The raised beds were a must, to save my beautiful plants and efforts from the Scourge of the Weed Hacker; and the perfect dirt was a common-sense choice. I used Mel Bartholomew’s recipe of 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 mixed composts as my guideline.
I have no problem stacking the deck in my own favor, especially when it comes to growing things successfully.
So, I’ll keep posting pics and tales of progress and tidbits and see where we land at the end of the season.
